Lonestar Round Up with kids

Have you made it out to the Lonestar Round Up this weekend? This annual celebration of hot rods and custom cars is for those that drive them, build them or are absolutely in love with them. Not to mention, you will also be surrounded by great music, art, hot rod history and an incredible amount of creativity.

The show is put on by our good friend and creative director, Brian Auder of The Kontinentals (follow Brian on Instagram @bauderer@dash3dots). We are also super excited about this year's Lonestar Round Up art work (posters, shirts, stickers, etc...) designed by another dear friend and designer, John Rockwell.

There are plenty of places around Austin to enjoy the festivities. This year we asked some fellow dad car lovers why this was their favorite show and they said, "Where else can you find all of this in one place in the entire United States?". Well put, cute dads!

As parents, this is usually what our schedule tends to looks like:

  • Friday: Travis County Expo Center to enjoy the cars, swap meet and music. If we can find a sitter, we try to hit up the Austin Speed Shop for their Open House at night.
  • Saturday afternoon and early evening: Congress Ave with the kids. This isn't an official event of the Round Up, but it's usually a great showing of cars cruising the strip.
  • Saturday night: Top Notch Burgers for an old school drive in. Hot rod movies show in the parking lot after dark till 10pm.
  • Sunday: Oasis Texas Brewing Company to enjoy some craft beers and tacos by La Manch
